Case Studies October 24, 2019 While Cleveland’s reputation has been on the rise, the city has lagged its peers in terms of job growth and investment. The idea for a summit to address these issues grew from conversations between several business leaders, nonprofit executives and others in the community. It became clear that fixing this problem would take new voices and ideas. In October 2019, more than 600 people from the Greater Cleveland region gathered over two-and-a-half days to talk, learn from one another, and envision a more equitable regional economy during the CLE Rising Summit. Many more shared their voices in small group settings and surveys ahead of time. Utilizing the Appreciative Inquiry method, the CLE Rising Summit focused hundreds of residents on their dream outcomes for economic issues that are important to all of us. The primary outcome of the Summit was the emergence of several working groups that continued to explore and refine aspirational visions developed during the event.
